Day-to-day operations is the name of the game, as well as personnel management and client relations. As the GM, if it needs to be done, Misty’s probably already doing it or learning how to.
Misty is a 21-year Air Force Veteran who spent her career working in Supply and Financial Management and as an Aerospace Medic, specializing in flight medicine. In a civilian capacity, she worked for more than 10 years in the local Emergency Departments, has taught CPR for 12 years as an American Heart Association Instructor and holds an EMT & Medical Assistant Phlebotomist certification/license. Her experiences in the medical field are an incredible asset to the IL tribe!
Misty was responsible for ensuring that the medical readiness of our fighter pilots were top notch to prepare for duty at any moment. She scheduled appts, tracked status, and served as their first responder every time they were off base on a mission or deployed.
She was proud to share with me that she felt a great honor and responsibility having 38 brothers she never knew she wanted, and they had a sister who basically followed them around to take care of their health to be mission ready. Misty was a voice in their ear making sure to take care of their physical and mental health readiness.
Fun Fact
Connecting the officers to IV’s for recovery, after a celebratory win the previous night, was a favorite pastime of Misty’s…hahaha, Hangover Helper!
But…the very sad day came when Misty had to make a choice to leave. She told me with a heavy heart that for 21 years as a medical professional, she was held to regulations and standards that allowed her to treat her patient’s in a respectful way by honoring their bodily autonomy and wishes. Well, that right had been taken away from all of them in 2020, and Misty had to make the hard decision to leave immediately before putting her retirement at risk.
When informed consent was taken away for the purpose of public protection, she had to make a choice that would honor her integrity and desire to protect patients. When informed consent was taken away for a brand new product, which wasn’t approved other than for emergency use, it began to challenge her integrity and desire to keep people safe. She told me she had to leave at the thought of potentially harming people.
As Misty was becoming more aware and informed about the ongoing medical issues spreading, it led her to educate herself more & more on the holistic & natural side of health care & available modalities… AND, that was away from all of the government controlled healthcare options. Wanting to be able to CHOOSE what people want for treatment, instead of the restrictions insurance co’s put on a patient about health care choices, was really very important to her.
Misty had known about HBOT in regards to the military, because when pilots would be in the cabin and have in-flight emergencies that would involve altitude decompression sickness (high altitude is linked to decompression sickness), and if critical enough, they would be treated with HBOT. Although she hadn’t experienced it herself, she knew about the therapy and spent years working on a protocol to put into place at the air base for proper decompression protocol using HBOT.
In her spare time, Misty volunteers for the Clark County Veterans Assistance Center where she was the Director of Stand Down for both the 2020 and 2021 events. Her inspiration is from God and love of caring for people. She thrives in moments of mentorship, motivation, and encouragement of others. She enjoys watching success play out as people become the best versions of themselves and find joy where there might not have been any.
Misty says that In Light is a clinic right out of a dream. You may find yourself in a euphoric state once inside. It's a fantastic place with a powerful mission of providing HOPE to those on their healing journey.
Misty’s dream would be to merge local military members with In Light Hyperbarics, especially the pilots, in order to have them preventively boost their levels of oxygen making it safer for them to fly. It would help these men and women not be so dependent on the high flow oxygen that they receive through their flight masks, but rely more heavily on their own bodies.
…Stay tuned for more information and future events aimed at the military and all of our wonderful veterans!
What does the research say about HBOT and benefits for active military and vets?
There is growing belief in the military that HBOT is a GAME CHANGER, so much so, that advocacy groups have begun to affect changes in policy decisions. Policies such as, promoting more scientific research and securing insurance coverage, not only from commercial sectors, but government issued coverage as well.
In recent years, Hyperbaric Medicine International (HMI) became ADVOCATE for HBOT! Their board of directors are highly impressive and well known, for instance, one of their directors is Lieutenant General (US Army) Retired, Michael Flynn who served as the National Security Advisor to the 45th President of the United States of America, and who has served all of us for over 33 years.
Another known person in media who sits as a director for HMI is Gina Loudon, MA., Ph.D. She is national co-chair of Women for Trump and serves on the Trump 2020 Media Advisory board. Dr. Gina is the President of Programming and Senior Anchor at Real America’s Voice. She was also selected as a Woman of Influence in Media by the Miami Israeli Consulate, and currently also serves on the board of directors at Chula Vista Christian University.
HMI's vision is a world in which hyperbaric oxygen therapy is the standard of care for a broad array of medical and wellness conditions
In addition, part of HMI’s mission states, “since hyperbaric treatment is not often recognized as a mainstream treatment modality, and is sometimes misused or misunderstood, Hyperbaric Medicine International will bridge the gap between the professional and public knowledge of the benefits of hyperbaric treatment.”
HMI’s Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) benefits:
Provides a decrease in inflammation
Mobilizes and migrates stem cells to areas of injury
Maximizes the efficiency of wound healing at every stage
Optimizes and potentially re-vitalizes cells not functioning at maximal capacity
Patients should be medically cleared and obtain a prescription to receive hyperbaric oxygen therapy
The VA should consider hyperbaric oxygen as a worthwhile treatment for vets.
The COVID-19 pandemic dominated the healthcare-related headlines this past year, and rightfully so. While the world focused its attention on the pandemic, other health crises continued in the shadows. So as we begin to put the pandemic in the rearview mirror, it’s time to shine a light on the health crises that have been simmering just beneath the surface. Chief among these is the alarmingly high rate of suicide among U.S. veteran…read more: https://www.militarytimes.com/opinion/commentary/2021/06/23/the-va-should-consider-hyperbaric-oxygen-as-a-worthwhile-treatment-for-vets/
Motions are continuously being made to promote the benefits of HBOT throughout our military and for vets & civilians alike, so that more acceptance will be had for financial coverage from the insurance industry, more availability nationwide, and better access for veterans to receive proper treatment.

Let’s not forget the other modalities that ILH has to offer you!!
For instance, if Light Therapy (LT) can help for the condition of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) with symptoms that are associated with depression, then LT can help a variety of mental health issues. Please visit here: https://inlighthyperbarics.com/blog/8y8xkulinhvv7tgs5fzium3c2702jr for information on LT benefits and conditions helped by it.
In addition, ILH offers Tissue Regenerative Therapy (TRT), which has been proven to help our vets with issues associated with pain and stiffness from injuries. Read more about TRT here: https://inlighthyperbarics.com/blog/what-is-the-difference-between-tissue-repair-and-tissue-regeneration
