Reducing Inflammation
The word inflammation covers a broad scope of symptoms and body ailments. Generally, inflammation refers to how the body fights against what it perceives as being harmful. This could be a number of things, including an injury, toxin, or infection. When one of these changes impact you, your body immediately triggers a fight response (your immune system) to protect you from the “invasion.” Your immune system releases protein and antibodies to the site of the injury or infection, causing inflammation. Some of the most common symptoms of inflammation include:
Fever
Chills
Redness
Swelling at the site
Muscle stiffness
Pain
Site of the injury/infection feels hot
Inflammation can be both chronic and acute:
Acute inflammation usually happens as a result of tissue injury and is categorized by the onset of pain, swelling, or heat. Acute inflammation typically lasts less than two weeks. The symptoms appear quickly and can be very severe.
Chronic inflammation, on the other hand, is long-term and can continue for several months or years.
How can HBOT Help?
In the case with many challenges the body may face, there is a lack of proper oxygen to the damaged area. This makes recovery more difficult and potentially, slower. HBOT acts as an anti-inflammatory by creating an environment full of life-giving oxygen.
The process increases blood flow and brings deprived tissue the oxygen-rich blood it needs to reduce swelling and pain, while promoting proper restoration. HBOT can also help improve the immune system by increasing the body’s antioxidants. This allows the body to wage an effective war against both infections & disease and weaken bacteria that can lead to infections.
