Blue Light Therapy to My Rescue!!

I believe that I experienced a small miracle using a Targeted Blue Light Pad for a burn that developed over Thanksgiving weekend. I grabbed a scalding hot steel pan handle and felt as if my little pinky had stuck to it for a split second of sheer agony. I quickly ran to cold running water and kept my fingers numb until I could compose myself.
I felt a blister developing and a kind of heat & throbbing I hadn’t experienced before from a burn. I will be honest here, the pain was up there with child birth and I considered going to urgent care that evening. For the next two hours I had my fingers on ice with a blue pad hovering over my hand. I could stand the light for minutes at a time and would adjust my hand in the ice, or take a break from the light for a moment or two to get relief. I used a Neem salve and a Lidocaine burn spray to try to alleviate the throbbing pain…this continued for just under 3 hours and I kept using the lights for 20 min sessions at a time, and several one minute ice breaks in between the light therapy.
That third hour a miracle happened when I no longer felt pain and was able to fall asleep to rest the entire night without needing any pain relieving medication. I couldn’t believe the relief I had felt with using blue light, and I’m convinced it was the light that sparked such a fast recovery…I’ve had burns with blisters before and they pop and can get infected, and can last a couple to a few days with lots of discomfort.
The next day, I couldn’t believe my eyes…the blister that had developed was gone within 24 hours of the burn and I could use my hand without any discomfort!
I had developed what’s called a Thermal Burn by touching a very hot object, which raised the temperature of my skin to the point of skin cells beginning to die. The skin can become a brighter red, begin to swell, develop a blister, hurt to the touch and throb thereafter.
Why did I choose blue light therapy?
The blue light therapy I’m speaking of here is NOT used as the harmful blue light emitted by phones and computer screens…not all blue is bad. It is also NOT photodynamic therapy which uses blue light to activate certain types of medicine in the system. This is using Targeted Blue Light Therapy for conditions present on or just beneath the surface of skin, because the wavelengths measure approximately 450 to 490 nanometers (nm), and are considered on the short end of the spectrum scale (see diagram below).
The light waves can only affect the tissues to the depth it can reach, so blue is for skin-deep and just below skin conditions because the waves are shorter. Wavelengths in this range promote healing, bacterial death and reduce inflammation.
From the LSPro Book of Light, “Light therapy causes biologic effects because different wavelengths are absorbed by specific proteins. In other words, divers tissue and cell types in the body all have their own unique light absorption characteristics because they are characterized by different proteins; that is, they will only absorb light at specific wavelengths and not at others. For example, because of the skin’s high blood flow, it has many different types of proteins and a high water content and thus absorbs red light very readily, while calcium and phosphorus found in deeper tissue and bone can absorb infrared light, which is a different wavelength of red light.”
I find this so fascinating, and the science really MAKES SENSE!
The LS Pro System has a targeted blue light pad that I used for my finger and placed on setting #3 @ 294 HZ frequency specifically for skin and tissues of body openings; for nerve and pain issues. This setting is suggested for a fresh wound, on surface of skin or just beneath, and for pain. The targeted red light pad, thereafter, on this same setting, was used afterwards for inflammation of surrounding area and further reduction of pain. The image below shows the results I received from light therapy in such a short time frame.
